Jivi, one of the players in feature phones, claims to break the
price barrier and has announced the launch and availability of Jivi
JSP 20, India’s lowest-priced Android smartphone, slimmest in 3.5”
segment as well, at Rs 1999 only. It is probably the lowest priced
Android smartphone in the world as well.
According to Pankaj Anand, CEO, Jivi Mobiles, “Prime Minister’s
Digital India program envisages citizens accessing e-services on
highly affordable mobile devices. We are supporting his vision of a
smartphone in every Indian’s hand by 2019 by shattering the price
barrier. However, a sub US$ 33 Android smartphone does not mean any
compromise on functionality whatsoever. This launch is bound to
trigger the largest conversion of feature-phone users to smartphone
