CISCO shines with the server business

Mighty server players are facing a tough time as well as stiff competition from new entrants in the space. HP and IBM are no longer hot favorites in the server domain as they have lost their marketshare significantly in the last couple of years, especially the last quarter results and shipment figures as shown by Gartner. HP and IBM have lost on many fronts and lost market. But a company which has emerged is CISCO. CISCO has moved up in the server business, though its networking business is not doing that good. The company’s server business has jumped 31% in the last quarter.

NetIQ gets Cisco Compatibility Certification

NetIQ Sentinel 7.2 has successfully achieved Cisco compatibility certification with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) through integration with Cisco Platform Exchange Grid (pxGrid). The Internet of Everything (IoE) continues to bring together people, processes, data and things to enhance the relevancy of network connections. As a member of the Cisco® Solution Partner Program, NetIQ is able to quickly create and deploy solutions to enhance the capabilities, performance and management of the network to capture value in the IoE.
For security teams, visibility into user activity and the context of those activities is critical in determining if behaviors are appropriate or if they could result in a breach. NetIQ Sentinel 7.2, a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform that goes beyond the traditional SIEM capabilities, including the collection, monitoring, and analysis of system log data, integrates identity information as context into security monitoring data to deliv…

Cisco to expand its IoE use cases

Cisco outlined an expansion of its fog computing strategy with the second phase of its IOx platform for industrial scale IoT deployments. Cisco outlined increasing industry ecosystem partner momentum and new hardened IoT platform support, and introduced its IOx Application Management Module. As a key part of the Cisco® fog computing strategy, IOx enables third party operating systems such as Linux and industry software applications to run directly on Cisco hardened IoT network platforms, which is critical for IoT solutions where applications, storage and compute needs to reside closer to “Things” such as sensors and devices.

Cisco claims Industry's First Threat-Focused Firewall

Cisco has introduced what it claims to be the industry’s first threat-focused next-generation Firewall (NGFW). If the company is to believed, Cisco ASA with FirePOWER Services provides the full contextual awareness and dynamic controls needed to automatically assess threats, correlate intelligence, and optimize defenses to protect all networks.
The company further states in a release that Cisco ASA with FirePOWER Services is an adaptive, threat-focused NGFW that delivers superior, multi-layered protection, extending its capabilities far beyond legacy NGFW solutions. Until now, NGFWs have focused on policy and application control and have been unable to address advanced and zero-day attacks.

Cisco to work with Industry Leaders for Application Centric Infrastructure

Building on its vision of Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) in the data center, Cisco and industry leaders today continued the transformation of information technology (IT) with the adoption of a new open, standards-based protocol called OpFlex. Through OpFlex, Cisco ACI continues to deliver the standards-based building blocks for next-generation networks while accelerating innovation with multiple industry leaders. Cisco customers such as Sungard Availability Services, du, Acxiom and Telstra are rapidly adopting the new Nexus 9000 switching platform for their transition to 40Gigabit Ethernet speeds and embracing ACI as the new model for automating data center infrastructure to support critical business applications.

For example, Acxiom, an enterprise data, analytics and software-as-a-service company that uniquely fuses trust, experience and scale to fuel data-driven results, is adopting the new Nexus switches and ACI. “Every week, Acxiom powers millions of transactions on beha…

IT and the Line of Business (LOBs) to shape Technology consumption together

In only a few short years, Cloud Computing has altered the information technology (IT) landscape for both large enterprises and midsize businesses — and this is the beginning of a larger transformation.  Cisco estimates that there were “only” about 200 million things connected to the Internet in the year 2000. Driven by advances in mobile technology and the “bring your own device” (BYOD) trend, among others, this number has increased to approximately 10 billion today. A dramatic upsurge to 50 billion connected people, processes, and things is expected by 2020. The resulting Internet of Everything (IoE) will drive the next wave of explosive Internet growth, with Cloud as a pillar of this transformation.
But what is the current state of IT Cloud consumption? What will IT organization of the future look like, and what will IT decision makers do to be successful in this changing environment? In a wide-ranging global study, Cisco Consulting Services (CCS) along with Intel, sought to pinpo…
